How’s everyone doing? I’ve been a tad bit stressed but this past weekend helped me become more grounded and ready to tackle the weeks ahead. I did enjoy last night’s defensive showdown between the New England Patriots & the Los Angles Rams. I didn’t pay much attention to Maroon 5’s halftime show, because I was mainly paying attention to WWE’s Halftime Heat on the WWE Network.
With February here, sales for romance movies, books, and dates are a major theme around the world. I just wanted to let you all know that this month I’ll be writing about dating, single life, and romance blogs to give me content to work with. A mini-dating series, if you will.
Note: I couldn’t think of any photos to use from my personal library so I’ve used some pretty photos from pexels, a free stock photo service.
Let’s dive into what’s going on in my world this month.
Word of the Month: Balance. This goes hand-in-hand with time management this month. I’ve been spending a lot of time on social media like Pinterest and such to find online things I’ve been looking for like teaching resources and such. This first week of February, I plan on honing in on how much time I spend doing these little time zapping things.
Eating & Drinking: Last night for the Superbowl, I made queso dip to pair with the tortilla chips I bought a couple of weeks ago. Late last month, I bought a slow cooker to help me make bulk lunches for my weekdays. If you have any veggie slow cooker recipes you enjoy, I’d love to try a few- just comment below which one’s are your favorites. I love to discuss food.
I drank the last of my coffee here at hone and haven’t had coffee in over two weeks. So far, so good. I discovered late last year the negative side effects of drinking more than a cup of coffee a day. I’ve been using the stash of tea (mix of chai, black tea, and green tea). Kind of excited to use up the last of my single use tea bags to transition to buying loose leaf tea through my local tea shop.
Watching: Still working through Alfred Hitchcok Presents on Hulu. I’m down to the last 44 episodes and hope to finish the show sometime this month. To offset those brief episodes, I also started Reba on Hulu- a show that I would always be on television during my childhood. Perfect mix of comedy to have on in the background upon coming home after a long day.
In between those shows, I’ve been reading Liam Styker’s Marvel Cinematic Universe “Stryker’s Cinema Series” reviews and catching up on Marvel movies. The only Marvel movies I’ve seen beginning to end are Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and most of Agents of SHIELD. I do enjoy movies but I prefer waiting till they are available online or at the library. This past weekend I watched Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. Over this weekend (9th-11th) I’ll watch Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. I’ve been reading Liam’s review and then checking out the DVDs from my local library. The chances of me seeing Captain Marvel or Avengers: End Game in theaters will be unlikely but we’ll just see what happens. It takes a lot to convince me to go to the movies. Last time I went to the movies, was December 2017 with friends to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It feels like ages since I’ve had an interest to going to a movie theater.
Check out the button below to view Liam’s reviews of MCU. He’s documenting every movie in release order and writing wonderful reviews. Bookmark the link if you have to!
Listening: Currently trying out Amazon Music for 90 days, since I bought a book last month. I’ve also on a 30-day trial for Audible. But those listening are on hold during my commutes. The PHRC (Potterhead Running Club) Book Club is in full swing and February’s book selection is A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I am about twelve chapters in and am loving this book. Last month, I listened to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and wrote a review about it. Unfortunately, it didn’t keep me interested but ADOW is dong just that. There’s also a new TV show and I just might binge watch it over spring break next month.
Smelling: I am down to three candles and mainly been using my essential oil diffuser. I’ve tended to say this frequently with this taking inventory series, but I am working through the resources I have and then switching to more environmentally friendly options.
Reading & Book Marking: Haven’t been reading much since I have classwork and class readings to do. So nothing much for this portion this month.
Writing: This category’s had a bit of improvement. I’ve been able to write in small windows of time throughout my day and it works. Still handwriting most of everything. I also realized that I’m in no process for my personal writing projects. That’s taken me about a year to realize that I don’t have to rush writing a story, poem, or prepping for publishing.
Waiting for: Small life improvements that takes daily practice. Topics include anxiety, depression, and overall mental health. I plan on restarting some morning meditations to help set me in a good mood for the day. I also have adopted a trick that I learned from Arwen Lynch (who learned it from someone else): for the first hour of the day, you stay away from your phone. If you spend the first hour of your day scrolling through social media, it can set the tone of your day. And sometimes, the first things we see online isn’t the healthiest. Some days I’ve been able to meet that goal and other days I’ve managed to keep my scrolling time in the morning to small amounts of time. I’d like to keep working on this, to add in more time for myself in the mornings.
Loving & Enjoying: The small improvements I’ve made over the past year, two years. Slowly working on paying bills ahead of time and sometime this week, I’ll pay off a $200 medical debt from my not-so-healthy time period of my life. My word of the year is cultivate and I’ve been working on cultivating a source of inspiration for my space around me and others.
Feeling: I mentioned earlier how I’ve been feeling stressed. That’s still partially true. I haven’t been feeling well and had to miss my political science lab and world literature class on Friday. Going to class today will be interesting and I’ll definitely need to make sure I’ve worked on centering my breathing to help relieve anxiety.
Feel free to follow me here on WordPress for future lifestyle and literature blogs. I’ll still post on MWF’s each week, with Friday’s post designated to photography practice!
Loved to hear your thoughts on this blog series below. Thank you so much for stopping by and I wish you the best this month!
