As part of a New Year’s Resolution & part of my Bucket list, I decided to start blogging-so here’s a blog all about me. Well, sort of.
Currently residing in Oklahoma City, I will be going to back to school (part-time this semester) after leaving college in Texas due to health reasons in September. There’s a lot in life I am still in the process of learning (and I truly believe we all are learning, daily) about ourselves, friends, family, the community, etc. Always learning, always engaging.
As an avid reader, I recently made a list of books to read from classics to new releases. From Harry Potter (for the first time, at age 20, I just finished the book series this month and the movies! YAY Hufflepuff) to Angels & Demons, I read-a lot. Reading helps develop the mind and takes care of boredom…but not procrastanation.
So, because I make a average of five lists a day (sad, but that’s my #motivation) here’s my list of learnings from the 2013 year:
1. NEVERRR EVERRR take 18 hours and think you can handle the world.
-Best, and worst mistake ever. It cost me financial aid, leaving school, and saying temporarily goodbye to my friends. The good thing is that I learned. And since then, I’ve learned more about myself than I have, ever. Rushing through college probably won’t work for me as much as I thought it would. As much as I would love to already be traveling, writing, performing and composing music, and with my degrees, it just wouldn’t do me any good to walk in without life experiences.
2. Savor in the moment you’re in-whether its small or big.
-I got to travel to countless states this summer, and it was so enjoyable! Instead of taking numerous pictures (that Iend up deleting because they are soo blurry) I like to enjoy the environment as it is-“getting in touch with your emotions” is the same consept-I love noticing the artistry in historical buildings and artwork, how the sky is pretty one moment and almost could instantly look like London. Now, yes, sometimes taking pictures is important! Like group pictures, pictures that capture that one moment when your friend is sleeping, -and you just keep if for giggles- and even how the cat looks at you with those “ohmygosh” pretty eyes! (I have plenty of those).
3. Paying off debts is a good thing!
-I’ve paid off debts from 2010 that was my fault (I had went wayyy over budget at Disney World…I didn’t even have a budget then!). And the only debts I have are Hospital bills, College expenses, Financial Aid Loans and Debt Collectors from more Medical expenses. I have to admit-I’m an expensive kid.
4. Because sitting down and learning WHO you are is important-don’t shrug it off.
– This is the one that I learned within the past few months. Sure, I’m a girl who will be working two jobs and going to school, but there’s more to me than just being dressed up in a fashion attire. I am beautiful, just as me. In the past, I’ve been told horrendous names from so called “friends” and others, that it just can hurt. The chorus to “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons has become an inspiration to me over the past few months. If you haven’t checked it out, here’s the chorus for you:

Other songs on my iPod are inspiring too but this one especially for how much I’ve grown for myself. I use to sing “Man In The Mirror” and “Human Nature” both by Michael Jackson, and not understand the deeper meaning of it-and then I did! It dawned on me that its human nature for humans to be-us!
5. Losing weight-let’s sit and think about it for a second.
-“I’m still the same weight, but I’ve been working out!” Yes, we all want instant results. Results come after hard work and dedication. Sometimes, I actually would forget that I was gaining muscle mass (thanks to the workouts I do at the fitness gym I’m at). I also have to be honest with myself-it is okay to take a day off from working out. It is okay to have a sweet snack or something of that sort every once in awhile.
Burning out is not healthy, mentally or physically.
It’s nice to sit back and look at my health-as in how far I’ve came. It is unbelievably inspiring when I find photos from years ago, and those were when I was into size 20 jeans and now I’m down to size 16. I’m not losing weight to impress anyone, or to become a supermodel-I’m doing it for me, and it’s paying off.
Other random things I’ve learned:
….Netflix. I love it. I’m just now on the 5th season of Lost, and it’s an absolutely fantastic show! Once this show ends, I’ll be on to the next drama series that I haven’t seen yet.
I love both my dog and my cat. They keep me company when I feel lonely. And, they can run into walls very well.
Staying up all night doesn’t work…I’m always the first to go to sleep.
Speaking of sleep, I have a tendency to oversleep. (Accept for the past few days, I’ve been up early, and getting more things off my daily “To-Do” List).
And since New Year’s Day is long gone, all my resolutions are still in tact! Most of them, don’t have to be done everyday. So my willpower is still good to go. 🙂
